AB  - Steven Laurence Kaplan'ın Bread, Politics and Political Economy in the Reign of Louis XV kitabı, Fransa’da, Louis XV döneminde bireylerin, hanelerin ve bunların birleşimiyle oluşan toplumun yaşadığı zorlukların ortaya çıkardığı politik ve iktisadi koşulların tarihsel bir analizidir. Yazar, bu dönemde Fransa’da, yaygın olarak gözlemlenen açlık ve yoksulluk durumlarını artıran sosyal, ekonomik ve politik faktörleri, çeşitli fertlerin ve grupların bu sorunları ele almak için yaptığı girişimler bağlamında incelemektedir. Kitap ayrıca politika ve iktisat arasındaki ilişkiyi, siyasi kararların ve bunlara dayalı olarak tatbik edilen uygulamaların, kişilerin ve toplulukların hayatlarını nasıl etkileyebileceği ekseninde de değerlendirmektedir. Eserin genel çerçevesi, ele alınan dönemin politika, ekonomi ve sosyal faktörleri arasındaki karmaşık etkileşimin detaylı bir şekilde anlaşılmasını sağlama amacının tezahürüdür.
