The research is a quantitative study, designed in accordance with the descriptive relational survey model. The population under investigation comprises all faculty members employed at a state university in Turkey during the 2021-2022 academic year. A sample of 383 lecturers took part in the data collection process. In order to collect data for the study, the following tools were employed: the "Alienation Scale from Academician", the "Academic Performance Perception Scale" and the "Personal Information Form". The Mann-Whitney-U test, Kruskal-Wallis-H test, t-test and ANOVA test were employed for the analysis of the research according to demographic variables. Correlation and regression analysis were used to analyse the relationship between independent variables. The findings indicated that there were significant differences in the alienation levels and academic performance perceptions of academicians according to various variables, including academic title, faculty/school, weekly course load, academic incentive, and foreign language grade. However, no significant differences were observed according to the gender variable. It has been established that there is a significant correlation between the alienation levels of academics and their academic performance perception levels. It was determined that 50% of the academic performance perceptions of the academicians can be attributed to their alienation from self and teaching. Consequently, it is recommended that the impact of the foreign language criterion in the hiring of higher education personnel be enhanced, given that the level of alienation from the academic staff with a low foreign language score is found to be higher.}, number={3}, publisher={Şahin ORUÇ}
