The data in the study were collected from 40 Turkish university students in the Department of Translation and Interpreting. In the study, the in-depth interview method was used to obtain the data related to the views and reflections of the students on the use of AI in translation activities. The findings of the study showed that AI technology provided positive contributions to the students in the translator training process. However, the f indings of the study also revealed that AI technology exerted a negative impact on the students. Considering the negative impact of AI, the study highlighted the importance of AI as a learning tool as it provides a personalized learning setting and therefore its integration into translation education, the emergence of AI addiction over time due to frequent use of AI, and the retroactive interference effect of AI on learning due to frequent use.
