Its key functions include supporting economic growth, generating foreign exchange, improving the balance of payments, and increasing national income. Due to its labor-intensive nature, tourism creates significant employment opportunities and promotes economic diversification and regional development through indirect effects on sectors such as agriculture, industry, and services. Moreover, tourism positively impacts infrastructure investments, strengthening economic foundations and supporting national modernization. Effective management of tourism’s effects on domestic prices is essential to maintain local living standards. Tourism revenues play a critical role, especially in developing countries, in addressing trade deficits and maintaining foreign exchange reserves. The sustainability of tourism is closely linked to the preservation of natural resources, the protection of cultural heritage, and the integration of local communities into economic development processes. Findings indicate that the long-term success of the sector depends on the implementation of policies aligned with environmental, social, and economic sustainability principles. This study is a literature review examining the economic impacts of tourism for the period 2000–2023. Secondary data from reliable national and international sources were used, presented in tables and graphs, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study specifically evaluates tourism’s effects on the balance of payments, national income, exports, employment, regional development, and infrastructure investments. In conclusion, the study highlights the multifaceted role of tourism in economic growth, regional development, and social welfare, emphasizing that strategic management and sustainable policies play a central role in maximizing benefits for both local communities and the broader economy.}, number={2}, publisher={TÜRKİYE OTEL, LOKANTA VE DİNLENME YERLERİ İŞÇİLERİ SENDİKASI}
