As part of the artistic expression, Jorge Luis Borges’ short story El inmortal (The Immortal) has been taken to be seen under a magnifying glass that allows us to find meaning beyond the text and words as such. In general, this article allows the reader to approach the short story The Immortal from the perspective of the imaginary proposed mainly by Gilbert Durand. During this process, the symbols that stand out throughout the story are scrutinized and the elements that are part of both, the daytime and night-time regimes of the imaginary are brought to light. At the same time, the idea of immortality as traditionally conceived is explored, and the author’s personal opinion on the matter is then revealed.}, number={1}, publisher={Bülent AYYILDIZ}
