The research was conducted between March 2020 and April 2021 with 14 volunteer operating room nurses working in a training and research hospital. Data were collected through in-depth, face-to-face interviews lasting approximately 10-15 minutes with each participant using a semi-structured interview form. Audio recordings were taken with prior consent, and the data were analyzed using content analysis. Results: The average age of the nurses was 36.2±6.0 years, and 92.9% were female. Their average professional experience was 15.7±7.2 years, and their average duration of working in the operating room was 9.7±7.3 years. It was found that 42.9% of the nurses had contracted COVID-19. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, four main themes were identified: emotions such as fear, anxiety, confusion, and excitement; aspects in which COVID-19 cases differ from standard cases; psychological and physical preparation; and voluntariness. Conclusion: It was determined that operating room nurses involved in the surgeries of COVID-19 patients during the pandemic experienced emotional, physical, and psychological challenges.
