AB  - Bu çalışmanın amacı, sesli kitap dinlemenin ortaokul öğrencilerinin kitap okuma motivasyonu düzeylerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Bu doğrultuda araştırma, ön test ve son test uygulamalarıyla deney ve kontrol gruplarını içeren yarı deneysel bir araştırmadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Antalya’daki ortaokullarda öğrenim gören ve yaşları 12 ile 13 arasında değişen 239 ortaokul yedinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Alkan ve Durukoğlu (2023) tarafından geliştirilen “Kitap Okuma Motivasyonu Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde uygun istatistik paket programı kullanılmış ve ilk olarak verilerin normal dağılım gösterip göstermediği ele alınmıştır. Verilerin normal dağılım gösterdiği belirlenmiş grup içi değerlendirmelerde bağımlı grup t testi, gruplar arası değerlendirmelerde ise bağımsız gruplar t testi kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca son test aşamasında fark belirlenen başlıklarda farkın etki büyüklüğünü saptamak için Cohen d hesaplanmıştır. Sonuçlar, sesli kitap dinlemeye katılan öğrencilerin okuma motivasyonu düzeylerinin genel anlamda artabileceğini göstermektedir. Diğer yandan bu artışın ise özellikle “değer” ve “beğeni” alt boyutlarında olabileceğine yönelik sonuçlar elde edilmiştir.

N2  - The aim of this study is to examine the effect of listening to audio books on middle school students' reading motivation levels. In this direction, the research is a quasi-experimental research involving experimental and control groups with pre-test and post-test applications. The study group of the research consisted of 239 middle school seventh grade students aged between 12 and 13, who were studying in middle schools in Antalya. The “Book Reading Motivation Scale” prepared by Alkan and Durukoğlu (2023) was used as a data collection tool. The appropriate statistical package program was used in the analysis of the data and firstly, it was examined whether the data showed normal distribution. When it was determined that the data showed normal distribution, the dependent group t test was used in intra-group evaluations and the independent groups t test was used in inter-group evaluations. In addition, Cohen's d was calculated to determine the effect size of the difference in the topics where a difference was determined in the post-test phase. The results of the study show that the reading motivation levels of students participating in audiobook listening activities can increase in general. On the other hand, results were obtained that this increase could be especially in the sub-dimensions of “value” and “appreciation”.
