Nevertheless, the intermittent nature of solar energy requires an effective energy storage and management system. A hybrid energy storage system (HESS), which combines a battery and a supercapacitor, provides a promising solution by effectively storing excess energy and balancing power fluctuations. While supercapacitor provides fast charge/discharge capabilities to handle sudden power variations, battery offers high energy density for long-term storage. A bidirectional DC-DC converter (BDC) plays a critical role in facilitating energy exchange between the solar PV-integrated HESS and the load. This study presents the design and performance analysis of an energy management control scheme for solar PV-integrated HESS using a BDC. In this context, fractional order PID (FOPID) based energy management control scheme is designed and compared to the PI controller. To evaluate the dynamic response and overall performance of the designed controller, simulation tests are conducted under various operating conditions. Comparative simulation results demonstrate that FOPID controller shows a better performance than PI controller. Also, energy transfer effectively is managed using the designed energy management control scheme between the PV source, storage components and load.}, number={4}, publisher={Niğde Ömer Halisdemir Üniversitesi}
