Drawing on Jean Baudrillard’s theory of simulation and the four phases of the image, the article traces how Barbieland transitions from a model rooted in modern ideals to a hyperreal environment where the distinction between reality and representation vanishes. The analysis is organized in two main parts. The first presents the philosophical foundation of Baudrillard’s simulation theory, detailing the progression from faithful representation to pure simulacra. The second applies this framework to the Barbie film, exploring how the film’s aesthetic choices, narrative structure, and character behaviors contribute to a simulated experience. Barbieland is shown to function as a closed system where artificial norms and identities are internalized by characters and viewers alike. The article argues that the film’s critical gestures—toward patriarchy, corporate structures, and gender representation—are neutralized through aestheticization and spectacle. In doing so, Barbie presents a simulation of critique, reinforcing the very ideological structures it claims to challenge. These findings underline the importance of analyzing contemporary cultural productions not only through their narrative claims but also through their representational logic and aesthetic forms.}, number={4}, publisher={Deniz YENGİN}
