The methodology used is discourse analysis, which attempts to determine what meanings are indicated by conversations and written texts. According to the findings of the study, which examines the documentary series The World’s Toughest Prisons, the “dispositif” reflected in the documentary is based on sociological, psychological, economic, cultural, moral, political and religious infrastructures. In addition, it was concluded that the discourses of the documentary series reflect similar and different realities about the social functioning of prisons in various countries, and therefore, discourses are very effective in reflecting the reality of documentary cinema.}, number={3}, publisher={Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi}
