AB  - Rogers Brubaker’ın Gruplar Olmadan Etnisite adlı kitabı, etnisite ve kimlik kavramlarını alışılmışın dışında bir bakış açısıyla ele alıyor. Brubaker, sosyal bilimlerde sıkça yapılan bir hataya dikkat çekiyor: Etnik grupların çoğu zaman var olan, sabit yapılar gibi ele alınması. Oysa ona göre etnisite aslında sürekli olarak yeniden inşa edilen, bağlama göre değişen bir olgudur. Brubaker, kitap boyunca “etnik grup” kavramının kendisini sorguluyor. Grupları doğal birimler olarak değil, belli koşullarda ortaya çıkan ve çoğu zaman siyasi ya da toplumsal süreçlerle şekillenen yapılar olarak görüyor.
