KW - Nane KW - Toplam Fenolik Madde KW - Toplam Flavanoid Madde KW - DPPH KW - CUPRAC N2 - In this study, the total phenolic and flavonoid contents as well as the antioxidant activities of 32 spearmint (Mentha spicata) genotypes were investigated. The total phenolic contents ranged from 2.74 to 8.34 mgGAE.100 mg⁻¹, while the total flavonoid contents were determined to be between 4.35 and 10.36 mgQE.100 mg⁻¹. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity of the genotypes showed IC₅₀ values ranging from 0.97 to 2.27 mg.mL⁻¹. The cupric ion reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC) values varied between 18.66 and 47.85 mgTE.100 mg⁻¹. Significant correlations were found between total phenolic and flavonoid contents and antioxidant activities. The findings indicate that certain some Mentha spicata genotypes possess effective antioxidant potential due to their high phenolic and flavonoid contents, suggesting that these genotypes could be utilized as natural antioxidant sources in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
