Global longitudinal strain (GLS) was measured by echocardiography during the active disease phase and after achieving remission. Strain values were compared between active and remission periods. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in GLS values between active and remission phases in the overall group or subgroups. However, strain improvement was more pronounced in female patients and non-smokers during remission. Conclusion: Although cardiac strain measurements did not significantly differ between disease phases, the findings suggest a potential impact of sex and smoking status on myocardial function in IBD. Strain echocardiography may help detect early cardiac involvement in selected patients. KW - Crohn KW - inflammatory bowel diseases KW - strain echocardiography KW - ulcerative colitis N2 - Amaç: Bu çalışma, inflamatuvar barsak hastalığı (İBH) olan hastalarda subklinik kardiyak tutulumun strain ekokardiyografi kullanılarak erken dönemde saptanıp saptanamayacağını değerlendirmeyi ve hastalık aktivitesi ile miyokardiyal strain arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemeyi amaçlamıştır.Yöntem: Aktif İBH'si olan toplam 40 hasta (22 Crohn hastalığı, 18 ülseratif kolit) çalışmaya dahil edildi. Global longitudinal strain (GLS) değerleri, hastalığın aktif döneminde ve remisyon sağlandıktan sonra ekokardiyografi ile ölçüldü. Strain değerleri, aktif ve remisyon dönemleri arasında karşılaştırıldı.Bulgular: Genel grupta ve alt gruplarda, aktif ve remisyon fazları arasında GLS değerlerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark saptanmadı. Ancak, remisyon döneminde kadın hastalarda ve sigara kullanmayanlarda strain iyileşmesi daha belirgin olarak gözlendi.Sonuç: Kardiyak strain ölçümleri hastalık dönemleri arasında anlamlı fark göstermese de, bulgular cinsiyet ve sigara kullanım durumunun İBH’de miyokardiyal fonksiyon üzerinde potansiyel etkisi olabileceğini düşündürmektedir.
