The study group for the research, which was conducted using a correlational survey model within the scope of quantitative research methods, consisted of 360 university students studying at sports science faculties, as determined by g*power (198 males and 162 females). Data were collected using the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale and the Academic Anxiety Scale. During the analysis process, normality analyses, descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and simple linear regression analysis were performed using the SPSS 25 program. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted using the AMOS 24 program to validate the factor structure of the scales. The study found that women had significantly higher average scores than men in academic anxiety and cognitive subdimensions. It was found that those with high perceived income levels had significantly higher academic self-efficacy than those with medium income levels. In the cognitive subdimension of academic anxiety, it was observed that those with both low and medium income levels had significantly higher anxiety levels than those with high income levels. Negative statistically significant relationships were found between academic self-efficacy and all dimensions of academic anxiety. It was determined that as academic self-efficacy increases, academic anxiety decreases, and academic self-efficacy explains 17.7% of the variance in academic anxiety. The findings of this study suggest that academic self-efficacy has a significant predictive value for academic anxiety in sports science students. It suggests that developing self-efficacy may play a critical role in reducing students’ anxiety levels.}, number={2}, publisher={Yalova Üniversitesi}
