Perceived Sacrifice Harmfulness and Early Maladaptive Schemas Among Married Individuals}, journal={Klinik ve Ruh Sağlığı Psikolojik Danışmanlığı Dergisi}, volume={5}, pages={47–63}, year={2025}, url={https://izlik.org/JA66ZE67DX}, author={Özdemir, Pınar and Özen, Ceyda Sevdenur}, keywords={Evlilik ilişkisi, fedakarlıktan algılanan zarar, erken dönem uyumsuz şemalar, stepwise regresyon analizi}, abstract={This study investigated the predictive role of early maladaptive schemas in the perceived sacrifice harmfulness among married individuals. It also explored whether perceived sacrifice harmfulness differs by gender. The sample consisted of 407 legally married individuals residing in Türkiye (291 women, 116 men). Utilizing a correlational survey design as part of the quantitative research methodology, data were collected through the Demographic Information Form, the Perceived Sacrifice Harmfulness Scale, and the Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form 3. Analyses included independent samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and stepwise regression. Findings demonstrated significant positive correlations between perceived sacrifice harmfulness and early maladaptive schemas. Specifically, the schemas of emotional deprivation, defectiveness/shame, self-sacrifice, and abandonment/instability significantly predicted higher levels of perceived sacrifice harmfulness, with emotional deprivation emerging as the strongest predictor. Additionally, a significant gender difference was observed, wherein men reported lower levels of perceived sacrifice harmfulness compared to women. The findings are discussed in light of schema theory and prior empirical research, and directions for future studies are outlined.}, number={2}, organization={Düzce Üniversitesi}
