This studyemploys a phenomenological approach to examine theillness experiences of healthcare personnel working atAnkara Bilkent City Hospital who tested positive forCOVID-19. Semi-structured interviews were conductedwith 15 participants aged 27–55 from various healthcareprofessions, and the data were analyzed using MAXQDAAnalytics Pro 2020. Participants’ experiences werecategorized under four main themes: emotional reactionsupon receiving their test results, challenges during theillness process, post-illness effects, and overall evaluationof the experience. The findings indicate that healthcareworkers experienced substantial stress due to heavyworkloads, the risk of infection, and fear of transmittingthe virus to their families. The study concludes that thepandemic’s psychological effects may persist in the longterm and emphasizes the need for psychosocial, workplace, and economic support for healthcare workers. The criticalrole of the social work profession in addressing thesechallenges is underscored. KW - Pandemic KW - healthcare workers KW - medical social work KW - psychosocial intervention N2 - Pandemiler, küresel ölçekte sağlık sistemlerini ve sağlıkçalışanlarını derinden etkileyen çok boyutlu krizlerdir.COVID-19 pandemisi, yalnızca tıbbi sonuçlarıyla değil,aynı zamanda ekonomik, sosyal ve psikolojik etkileriyle desağlık çalışanlarının yaşamlarında önemli kırılmalara yolaçmıştır. Bu çalışma, Ankara Bilkent Şehir Hastanesi’ndegörev yapan ve COVID-19 PCR testi pozitif çıkan sağlıkçalışanlarının hastalık sürecine ilişkin deneyimlerinifenomenolojik bir yaklaşımla incelemektedir. Yarıyapılandırılmış görüşmeler yoluyla 27–55 yaş aralığındafarklı meslek gruplarından 15 katılımcıdan elde edilenveriler MAXQDA Analytics Pro 2020 programı ile analizedilmiştir. Katılımcı deneyimleri dört ana tema altındadeğerlendirilmiştir: test sonucunu öğrenme anındakiduygular, hastalık sürecinde yaşanan güçlükler, hastalıksonrası etkiler ve genel süreç değerlendirmesi. Bulgular,sağlık çalışanlarının ağır iş yükü, enfeksiyon riski veaile üyelerini bulaştırma korkusu nedeniyle yoğun stresyaşadığını ortaya koymaktadır. Sonuç olarak, pandemininruh sağlığı üzerindeki olumsuz etkilerinin uzun vadededevam edebileceği; sağlık çalışanlarının psikososyaldesteğe, iyileştirilmiş çalışma koşullarına ve ekonomikdesteklere ihtiyaç duyduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışma, busüreçte sosyal hizmet mesleğinin kritik rolüne dikkatçekmektedir. CR - Adams, J. G. and Walls, R. M. (2020). Supporting the Health Care Workforce During the COVID-19 Global Epidemic.
