Bu dönüşüm sürecinde Blaise Pascal, matematik, fizik ve olasılık kuramına yönelik çalışmalarıyla bilimsel düşüncenin gelişiminde özgün bir konum edinmiştir. Pascal, matematiksel kesinliği kabul etmekle birlikte, deneysel bilginin sınırlarını ve insan aklının yanılabilirliğini vurgulayarak bilimsel bilginin mutlaklık iddialarını sorgulamıştır. Özellikle olasılık kuramına yaptığı katkılar, belirsizliğin rasyonel biçimde ele alınabileceğini göstererek bilimsel düşünceye yeni bir perspektif sunmuştur. Bunun yanı sıra fizik alanındaki deneyleri, deneysel yöntemin olanaklarını ve sınırlarını birlikte görünür kılmıştır. Bu bağlamda Pascal’ın bilim anlayışı, bilimsel bilginin gelişimini kesinlikten ziyade olasılık, deney ve eleştirel akıl çerçevesinde konumlandıran bir yaklaşım olarak değerlendirilebilir. Within this process of change, Blaise Pascal attained a distinctive position in the development of scientific thought through his works in mathematics, physics, and probability theory. While acknowledging mathematical certainty, Pascal questioned claims of absolute scientific knowledge by emphasizing the limits of experimental knowledge and the fallibility of human reason. His contributions to probability theory, in particular, demonstrated that uncertainty can be addressed in a rational manner, thereby introducing a new perspective into scientific thinking. Moreover, his experiments in physics simultaneously revealed both the possibilities and the limitations of the experimental method. In this context, Pascal’s conception of science can be regarded as an approach that situates the development of scientific knowledge within a framework of probability, experimentation, and critical reason rather than absolute certainty.
