Graft Achilles tendon sheaths of the rabbits were opened Iongitudinally, both tendons were cut transversly and 0.2 cm Iength tendon portion was extracted from the right Achilles tendon. Polyropylene mesh was applied to the right side, whereas the Ieft Achilles tendon Ieft unrepaired. Both Achilles tendon sheaths were sutured. Histopathological examinations were performed at 18 days, 4 Weeks, and 6 weeks after the surgery. Due to the network structure of the graft, it guided to the growth of connective tissue. The growing connective tissue had regular, qualified, and well vascularized structure, whereas the defect was fifled with irregularly oriented scar tissue in the control group. In biomechanic study, it was ascertained that the tendons repaired with polypropylene mesh had 15% more tension power than control ones. In conclusion, a tendon with original Iength and tension Was provided by the use of the graft. The defect was filled with regularly oriented connective tissue in the network structure of polypropylene graft. As a result, we established functional tendons.}, number={1}, publisher={Turkish Association of Orthopaedics and Traumatology}
