Utilizing an instrumental case study design, this research is based on semi-structured interviews conducted with 32 Syrians living in Gaziantep. The findings indicate that return is viewed not as a definitive and one-way decision, but as an uncertain and conditional process shaped by back-and-forth mobility, family obligations, economic opportunities, and changing political conditions. Legal uncertainty regarding temporary protection complicates return for some participants, while experiences of othering weaken their sense of urban belonging.
