N2  - Amaç:Araştırma; cerrahi kliniklerinde yatan yaşlı hastaların ilaç kullanımlarını etkileyebilecek bilgi ve uygulamalarınınbelirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Örneklemi HacettepeÜniversitesi Erişkin Hastanesi’nin Beyin Cerrahi, Genel Cerrahi,Toraks/Kalp/Damar Cerrahi ve Üroloji kliniklerinde yatan 60 yaş ve üzeri 128hasta oluşturmuştur. Yöntem: Veri toplama aracı olarak, araştırmacı tarafındanilgili literatüre doğrultusunda geliştirilen soru formu kullanılmıştır. Verileraraştırmacı tarafından, yüz yüze görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Verilerindeğerlendirilmesinde yüzde hesaplamaları, McNemar ve CohranQ testlerikullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hastaların bir yılda ortalama1.8±1.7 kere hekime/sağlık kuruluşuna başvurduğu ve kendilerine ortalama16.4±1.8 reçete yazıldığı; %22.7’sinin reçetesiz ilaç, %25’inin bitkisel ürünkullandığı, %16.4’ünün ilaçlarını düzenli kullanmadığı belirlenmiştir.İlaçlarını düzenli kullanmadığını belirten hastaların (%16.4) yaklaşık üçtebiri (%38.7) ilaçlarını düzenli kullanmama sebebi olarak “ilaç kullanımınedeniyle yaşanan sorunlar” ı göstermiştir. Sonuç: Bu çalışmadan elde edilenbulgular doğrultusunda; ilaçların akılcı ilaç kullanımı (AİK) ilkelerine uygunkullanılmalarını engelleyebilecek özelliklerin, yaşlı hastaların yaklaşıkdörtte birinde görüldüğü saptanmıştır.
