N2  - This study aimed to complete K-ras mutation analysis, effective at indicating the development of head-neck cancers, of tumor tissue samples from patients with cancer of the larynx to determine the frequency in our region.Tissue samples obtained from tumors of 41 patients with diagnosis of larynx cancer were genetically analyzed for K-ras mutation. The results are discussed in light of information in the literature.Of patients 40 were male (97.5%) and 1 was female (2.5%). The average age of males was 63.5 years (50-81) while the female was 44. K-ras mutation was observed in 2 cases (4.87%), one at codon 12 (G12A) and one at codon 13 (G13D), during genetic investigation.During development of cancer the effects of 3 classes of gene are important (protooncogenes, tumor suppressor genes and DNA repair genes). Molecular events beginning squamous cell carcinoma in the head and neck include other genetic events apart from ras mutations. Studies have shown that the rate of K-ras mutations is not very high.
