Diğer taraftan, <em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Hemiechinus </em>ve <em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Erinaceus </em> cinslerinin ayırt edilmesinde anahtar karakter olarak kullanılan diş kök yapıları bu çalışmada da benzer bulunmuştur.
