N2  - Cyprinus carpio (L.) was exposed to 0.01, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.50 ppm copper for periods of 7. 15 and 30 days and the effects of accumulation in muscle and liver tissues on total protein levels were studied. Copper accumulation and total protein levels in the tissues studied were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometric and spectrophotometric methods respectively. Muscle and liver accumulation of copper increased with increasing concentrations of copper and with exposure period. Total protein level in liver tissue increased and that of muscle tissue decreased with increasing concentrations of the metal at given period and with increasing exposure period at a given concentration
