The new conditions have allowed employees working in different units or geographic locations to team upon projects and build communities. Nevertheless most of the organisations have been unable to experience these changes where the traditional face to face meetings, line telephones and emails are still the only way of communication. On the other hand, many employees individually have kept up with the latest developments in the communication technologies such as exchanging knowledge by their smart phones in virtual communities like online forums and social networks. We, therefore, argue that readiness for successful knowledge sharing is differentiated between individuals and organisations.
