Until the Fatih period, there was a single monetary application calledmonometalist. In the Ottoman Empire, the conversion of the first Ottoman goldof Fatih to a monetary regime in which the double metal money called bimetalistwas in effect was made.In particular, Europeans were influenced by silver in the abundance ofAmerica continent, and inflationary economies were formed in the economy, andas a reflection of this, the silver weight and size were adjusted in thisdirection. It is known that the money used during the Byzantine and Sassanianstates in the early periods of the Islamic states was redeclared in time toinclude Islamic emblem and symbols. The Ottoman Empire also kept the money ofthe former states or contemporary Western countries in circulation and keptthem in circulation by minting them again in their own mints. The troubles experienced especially during the war periods of Ottomanfinance were tried to be solved by making adjustments called "tağşiş"in the name of the money in circulation, which caused some negative reflectionsin the society. The difference between the nominal value and the metal value ofthe copper money called “mangir” over time led to the emergence ofcounterfeiting activities and the state removed the printing and circulation ofthe mangir to prevent this. The names of the local and foreign currencies thatare circulating in the Ottoman Empire can be seen in the fetva registers, whichwere printed in the 18th century. "Tagsis" which means the changesmade about the value of money and "tecdid-i akce" which was theapplication of a new Padishah on the throne to mint new money on his behalf andremove the old ones from the circulation. There are also informations onvarious issues related to the currency, such as issues related tocounterfeiting activities, negative reflections of changes in money value. These informations in the fetvas seem to confirm the information in theliterature when compared with the works written about the money chapters ofeconomic history literature.
