N2  - Resilience is a person's adapting herself to life situations in a dynamic process consists of the interaction between protective and risk factors when the person faces with a negative condition. The protective factors deseribe the deminishing or terminating the effects of risks or the difficulties and developing individual's healthy adaptation and competencies. Those protective factors include individual qualities, familial and environmental variables.The main goal of this study was to investigate resilience of 8 grade students in relation to various variables such as self-concept, gender,.education level of mother, education level of father.Ninethy-eight pupıls who were attending to primary schools in Istanbul took part in the study.The measurement tools of the study were; The scale of Resilience and Adelescent Development, Piers-Harris Scale of Self-Concept and the form of personal information.The results of the study revealed that the gender and the self concept of the child had effects on resilience.
