N2  - History education contributes significantly to the individuals to provide themselves a plııralist perspective to receive history consciousness and differences decently, to evaluate the knowledge that is preseııted to them from a critical perspective, to recognize their own societies and the other world societies, to have intellectual background. The obtaining of these benefits is related to the quality of the history education giyen in schools where the individuals mostly meet the history for the first time. Local history has important gainings about this subject. In this study, what local history is and which benefits it can provide in history teaching have been emphasized. Besides this, the negations that can appear about giving place to local history in history teaching and sorne suggestions about this have been stated in the study.
