N2  - In contemporary Turkey, large scale productive capital is one of the main actors of the privatisation process, and it is internationalizing rapidly, as the example of Koç Holding illustrates. Today, the domination of capital is seen in every aspect of social life. Despite this fact, there are developmentindustrialisation centered analyses which turn their face to the past, and there are calls for a return to the now past development era as a cure to today’s maladies. In contrast to these, we can better understand the outcomes of the process with a critical approach to the concepts of development and industrialisation. With such an analysis, it is also possible to access the structural features of the system that has been shaped through the historical process. In this study, the concepts of development and industrialisation are critically evaluated and the concept of capital accumulation is discussed as an alternative. Then, for a more concrete level analysis of the conceptual discussions, the position of Koç Holding in the accumulation process is investigated by establishing present-past linkages
