N2  - In the article, what is being discussed upon is the approach of the magazine “Mir İslama” (World of Islam) which aims at informing the Russian public about ideological and political developments in Islamic countries, investigating the effects of these developments on Russian Moslems, to convey the ideas, social and political demands popular among them to Russian intellectuals and Russian administrators by following articles in the newspapers and magazines that Russian Moslems publish, to the educational activities of Kazan Tatars. In this respect, the historical process that led to the existence of the magazine and its mission is evaluated. Tatar press organs that the magazine follows and the works of Tatar intellectuals are stated. Overall picture that Mir İslama draws in the educational activities of Kazan Tatars and the place of mekteps and medreses schools in this picture is examined
