N2  - In 1361, the relationship between the Ottomans and the Karamanids was friendly, but with the spread of the Ottomans inside Anatolia and their arrival to the borders of the Karamans’, this relationship became strained. The first battle between them occurred in 1386 and after that, a period of political and military struggle began. This political situation reached its most intensive phase during the rule of Karamanoğlu İbrahim Bey II. . At that time, against the alliance between the Crusaders in the and the Karamanoğlu in Anatolia, Ottoman sultan Murad I asked the Muslim theologians (ulema) for a fetwa about Karamanoğlu İbrahim Bey. He got the fetwas and took his revenge in Karaman. İbrahim Bey, who was in great trouble, sent his wife, his vezir Servet Ağa and his mufti Sarı Yakub for peace and he was forced to give a Sevgend-nâme (ahid-name) and he confirmed Sultan Murad II.’s grave conditions for peace. There are two copies of this document called Ahidnâme, Sevgendnâme or Musâlaha. The first one preserved in Paris National Library, was published by İ. Hakkı Uzunçarşılı in 1937. The second copy under examination here is found in of a collection (mecmua) (registered as number 13998) in Konya İzzet Koyunoğlu Museum. We can see from the lines of the mentioned ahidnâme, that Karamanoğlu İbrahim Bey II. really was in a hard situation. The text begins with praises to the Ottoman Sultan, and continues with words of loyalty and fidelity to the sultan. Furthermore it is pointed out that the sultan is a ruler of the universe and his words are like an order
