TY - JOUR TT - Effect of orange peels waste derived biocomposite film against aflatoxins AU - Günkaya, Zerrin AU - Demirel, Rasime AU - Banar, Müfide PY - 2016 DA - December JF - Pamukkale Üniversitesi Mühendislik Bilimleri Dergisi PB - Pamukkale Üniversitesi WT - DergiPark SN - 2147-5881 SP - 513 EP - 519 VL - 22 IS - 6 KW - Aflatoksin KW - Biyokompozit film KW - Portakal kabuğu KW - Selüloz asetat ftalat N2 - Theaim of the study is to add an aflatoxin inhibition propertyto a novelbiocomposite packaging film which is derived from orange peels waste andincluding thermo plastic starch and clay. Biocomposite film was coated with,Cellulose Acetate Phthalate (CAP), an enteric coating used as an activepharmaceutical ingredient, for aflatoxini nhibition. Total aflatoxin (B1, B2,G1, G2) analysis was realized on sterilized dry raisins. Before the test, allthe dry raisins were sterilized and their initial total aflatoxin content (mg/graisin) was determined. Then, a group of sterilized dry raisin werecontaminated with Aspergillus parasiticus. Both sterilized and contaminated dryraisins were covered by the testing films and incubated at 25 °C forfivedays. After five days, final total aflatoxin contents in sterilized and contaminateddry raisin were measured to determine the existing aflatoxin and new aflatoxingrowth, respectively. Total aflatoxin content was measured by afluorometricmycotoxin test equipmentafterextraction. Resultsshowthat CAP hasincreased the inhibition effect of biocomposite film against existing aflatoxinand new synthesis. In addition to this, it was observed that CAP is moreeffective to new aflatoxin synthesis than commercial packaging film.
