N2  - In the present study someobservations were made on the reproductive biology of Unio terminalis (Bourguignat, 1852; Bivalvia: Unionidae) from RiverÇine (Aydın, Turkey). Egg packages that are typically seen in the breeding processof freshwater mussels were laid by the adults in May and November at21–25 Cº water temperature under the laboratory conditions. The egg packageswere contained eggs or/and glochidia. The mean egg diameterwas ~226 μm and no correlation was found with the broodstck size (R2<0.01).At the same time larvae size did not differ with the broodstck size (p>0.1);the mean height of the glochidia were ~186 μm. Density of the glochidia were30±6 mm-2. The openning closing movement of the glochidial valveswas observed; the fastest frequency was recorded as 1.2 sec-1 andlarvae were able to keep this frequency up to 15 seconds. But this frequencywas recorded as less than 1 movement per minute for many cases with liveglochidia. After releasing, glochidia were found only at thegills of Andinoacara sp. among 3different fish species.
