N2  - During the Balkan Wars, Imbrosand Tenedos were invaded by the Greeks at the end of 1912. The sovereignty ofGreeks in the islands continued until 1923. In World War I, Imbros was used asa military base by the British.Being held by Turkey with theTreaty of Lausanne, Imbros and Tenedos again entered into the domination ofTurks in October, 1923. On various occasions, The Greeks in Imbros haveexpressed their satisfaction for being annexed to Turkey. Initially, civilservice inspectors and delegations were sent to the island; and theadministrative organization was established temporarily. Later, both of theislands were turned into administrative districts and connected to ÇanakkaleProvince.The governments of the Republic of Turkey havepaid special attention to ensuring order and security in the islands. In 1928,Ali Galip, Inspector of Property, and Mr. Nazif, General Director of ProvincialAffairs of the Provinces, were assigned to carry out inspections in the islandby the Ministry of the Interior. Mr. Nazif prepared a detailed report on bothislands and presented it to the Ministry of the Interior. In this article, thedevelopments in Imbros and Tenedos during the first years of the Treaty ofLausanne (1923-1928) are explored in the light of archival documents andvarious sources.
