N2  - Purpose This study aims to designate relations on social status scale regarding nursing and approach to nursing among patriarchal tradition, gender, educational level, socio economic level, marital status and dimensions of being organized. Method Sample of cross sectional descriptive study was formed with 578 selected nurses, with random sampling method, who were working for government hospitals in Istanbul. Data were collected with socio demographic characteristics and approach to nursing scale and social status questionnaires relating to nursing, evaluated with average and percentage distribution of factor, correlation and regression analyses. Findings In nursing approaches, highest effect is for marital status, lowest effect is for educational level. All nursing approaches effect social status. Patriarchal structure, socio economic state, education, gender, marital status and being organized levels are meaningfully related to social status connected with nursing. Approaches related to nursing are both related to social status and effect social status. Patriarchal tradition, education and marital status are effective on social status formation related to nursing. Conclusion There is a meaningful relation between nursing approaches and social status, nursing approaches effect social status of nurses too.
