The narrowclawed crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus Eschscholtz, 1823) was chosen asrepresentative of freshwater ecosystems, naturally distributed in water bodiesaround Eurasia. This study presents the sublethal effects of these pesticideson the total antioxidant status and hemocyte counts on narrow clawed crayfish.Method: The narrow clawed crayfish (mean weight 32.78±7.12 g) were obtainedfrom local breeder in the pre-molt stage. After acclimatization period, theywere exposed to sublethal concentrations of two different pesticides for 2 and7 days. Hemolymph samples were taken from the base of the second walking legsvia a 2.5 ml disposable syringe under ice anesthesia. Hemolymph totalantioxidant status (TAS) determinations were performed by a Randox commercialkit (Randox Laboratories Ltd., Crumlin, UK). Total hemocyte counts wereperformed by using hemocytometers. Findings: Total hemocyte counts were decreasedin both exposure groups when compared to control groups (P<0.05). Totalantioxidant status were significantly increased in carbaryl exposed groupswhile did not altered in deltamethrin exposed groups. Result: The results inthis study demonstrate that total antioxidant status and hemocyte counts canreliably be used as biomarkers to monitor pesticide in contaminated aquaticlife as early warning systems.     Keywords:TotalAntioxidant Status, Total Hemocyte Counts, Crayfish (Astacus leptodacylus),carbaryl, deltamethrin CR - Aysel Çağlan Karasu Benli, Duygu Şahin, Burcu Koçak Memmi, Aylin Sepici Dinçel Gazi Üniversitesi Ankara Başkent Üniversitesi Ankara Hacettepe Üniversitesi Ankara UR - https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/turjoem/issue//319503 L1 - https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/download/article-file/311546 ER -
