However, they contain some limitations, mainly due to lexicological reasons and limitations of physical capacities. Thus, although the general dictionaries apparently contain all the words of the language to which they belong, they don’t often include language units such as unfamiliar terms, special names etc. Which linguistic units these dictionaries will cover and which will exclude relates to the macro structure of the dictionaries. While building this macro structure, dictionary makers move in line with the principles they set before and and shape their collections. However, what makes the macro structure visible and concerns the users more is the presentation of the language units included in the dictionary. This is about the micro structure of the dictionary.

The purpose of this study is to determine the status of province and district names within Türkçe Sözlük, a general dictionary, and to prepare various proposals to develop the dictionary for the deficiencies identified in the dictionary. In accordance with this purpose, items containing the names of provinces and districts in the Türkçe Sözlük were identified with document scanning method and has been shown to how province and district names were processed in modern foreign general dictionaries.

In the discussion part, it has been evaluated how a general dictionary will follow these names. In the conclusion part, proposals and sample material designs about special place names are presented.
}, number={59}, publisher={Atatürk Üniversitesi}
