The center of the discussions on the cash waqfs had been the legal aspect of devoting cash and some administrative and financial methods that were used in practice. In the Ottoman Empire, the practices of cash waqfs had frequently been seen in a period exceeding five centuries. In fact, in many cases, the only source of income for many waqfs had been the devoted cash. How were the rules of borrowing or operating money, which is among the income sources of the waqfs in the Rumelia/Balkan geography in the Ottoman period, included among the demands/ requirements of the founder? In this study, using the waqf charters (waqfiyahs) in the Archive of the Directorate General of Foundations, the ways of borrowing money from the waqfs that were founded in the Rumelian territory of the Ottomans will be discovered and assessed. Thus, the methods and conditions which were resorted to by waqf founders to lower losses while waqf money were used will be revealed to a certain extent and the inner world of the waqf founders will be investigated. }, number={2}, publisher={Ankara Düşünce ve Araştırma Merkezi}
