N2  - Medieval Islamic historiography mainly focused on the Islamic World. As a result of this, informationregarding the history of non-Islamic countries appeared in Islamic historiography only in its relation toIslamic countries. Ottoman historiography also followed this tradition.The foundation of the Turkish Republic in 1923 was the beginning of a new period in the study ofTurkish history. In this period, research of both Turkish history before the Ottoman era and Turkish historyin Central Asia was especially encouraged and supported. Studies done by institutions established by theorder of Atatürk, such as The Institute of Turkology (Türkiyat Enstitüsü, 1924), The Turkish HistoricalSociety (Türk Tarih Kurumu, 1931), The Turkish Language Society (Türk Dil Kurumu, 1932) and The Facultyof Language and History & Geography (Dil ve Tarih-Coğrafya Fakültesi, 1935) focused on illuminatingTurkish history, language, literature and culture especially before the Ottoman era. As a result of this, thenumber of studies about the history of Central Asia increased rapidly. This study analyzes the beginningand development of the research concerning Mongolian history, language, literature and culture in Turkeybetween 1923-2017.
