Turkey is a rich country in terms of wild orchardgrass populations. This study wasconducted in order to determine the genetic diversity of orchardgrass populations collected fromeleven provinces of Turkey. Fourteen Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR) molecular markers wereused to estimate genetic diversity in eleven populations. In the study, 72 alleles were detected. The mean number of alleles per locus was 5.14 and it was ranged between 2 and 12. In the study, all SSR loci were determined as polymorphic. The Polymorphism Information Content (PIC)values ranged between 0.322-0.921. A dendrogram was constructed in order to determine geneticcluster, it divided eleven populations into four groups. According to results, the populationmaterials from the same altitude were in the same group thus showing a geographical distributionof genetic diversity of the populations. As a consequence of the study, it was observed that Turkeyregion have enough diversity to provide the necessary material in Dactylis glomerata breedingstudies. CR - 1. Acunalp S (2012).
