Therefore, this study is suggested to contribute to the recent literature by providing significant data about patients with thalassemia major for nurses. Because there is a limited number of studys in the literature, this study aims to investigate the healthy lifestyle behaviors in patients with thalassemia major. </span> </h1> <p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:6pt;text-indent:14.2pt;line-height:normal;"> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">This descriptive study was conducted with 151 follow-up and treated patients with thalassemia major (9 years old and above) in two hospitals in Antalya. The study data was analyzed with a Personal Information Form and the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale-II. <b> </b> </span> </p> <p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:6pt;text-indent:14.2pt;line-height:normal;"> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient was 0.93. The total scale score was 2.48±0.03. There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores and educational level, employment status, number of siblings, place of residence of participants (p<0.05). </span> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:6pt;text-indent:14.2pt;line-height:normal;"> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">The mean total score of </span> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">patients with thalassemia major </span> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us"> healthy lifestyle behaviours scale </span> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">was found to be </span> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">a moderate level </span> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">. Therefore, health professionals especially nurses who work with <b> </b> </span> <span lang="en-us" style="font-size:10pt;" xml:lang="en-us">patients with thalassemia major are considered to undertake a great responsibility to assist them to maintain healthy lifestyle behaviors.
