The selection ofnozzle in pesticide applications is a matter of particular attention. The sizeof the droplet is very important for fighting with disease and pest. Coarserdroplets run-off from the plant while finer droplets are prone to drift. Forthis reason, it is necessary to determine the droplet diameter in order toreduce drift. Volume median diameter is commonly used for understanding dropletsize in the spray pattern. Due to the direct effect of the size of the droplet, a large number ofstudies have been conducted on the nozzles. But there are still some missingparts. For this reason, every year the nozzle manufacturers put a new type ofnozzle on the market. In this study, the volume median diameter ofdifferent sized (0.8 and 1.0) hollow cone nozzles widely used in Turkey atdifferent pressures (6, 9, 12 bar) in constant temperature and relativehumidity were determined by Oxford Visisizer-PDIA (Particle Droplet ImageAnalysis). It has been determined that the volume median diameter of these twosizes of nozzles, which are tested at lower pressures, is very close to eachother. CR - Anonymous, 2001.
