Improvements achieved in instruments like television, computer have changed the ways of learning. People started to learn and gain information from images. Visual reading and visual presentation have taken their place in the Turkish lesson program together with the increase of significance of images in the human life, and visual reading and visual presentation have taken their place in the program with the achievements they provide in the learning areas. The aim of this study is to determine the rate of problems which were faced while receiving opinions of teachers about the peculiarities and the role of visual aids in the first-grade Turkish lesson schedule at primary schools. The research population was constituted out of the first- grade teachers and teachers who had taught first-grade in the school year 2010-2011, in the province Muş. The exemplification of the research was applied on 310 first- grade teachers and teachers who had taught first-grade in the province Muş. A questionnaire was arranged in three units for reaching the aims determined for the research. The statistical analysis of research data was verified by using SPSS 16.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) on PCs. % and frequency, “t “ tests and analysis of variance were utilized for data analysis. Female teachers had (when compared with the opinions of male teachers) a general opinion that different and special visual aids were more impressive in reading & writing courses. Teachers, who were just at the beginning of their career, stated that visual aids played an important role in teaching reading & writing. The fact that achievements gained in the fields of visual reading and visual presentation were suitable for the pupils’ levels, was more appreciated by teachers of a lower rank than by teachers of higher ranks. Finally it was concluded that, visual aids in reading & writing courses were remarkable, and caused an increase in the interest for the course.
