N2  - Shilajit, a natural product that consists a combination of organic and inorganic materials, is being used as a part of traditional treatment systems mainly in traditional indian medicine and especially in the summer, in the mountainous regions such as Himalayas, the Hindu Kush, Pamir and the Urals it exudes from roots of rocks which are from 1000 to 5000 meters high. Numerous therapeutic properties a few of which have been proved by modern scientific methods has been attributed to shilajit. In this review, brief information about the origin, kinds, composition of shilajit and the usage of its traditional medicine will be given and modern scientific findings that were reached by the recent studies of its preclinical-clinacal usage will mostly be presented
