In this article, patients operated because of cardiac injuries for the last 3 years in our hospital, were evaluated in the light of the literature. Materials and Methods: Between November 2013 and August 2015, 6 cases were operated with the prediagnosis of cardiac injury were examined retrospectively. Results: There were 4 male and 2 females with ages ranged from 18 to 74 years. Cause of injuries were blunt trauma in 3 cases, penetrating trauma in 2 cases and iatrogenic in 1 case. 2 of blunt trauma occured from falling from high and the other developed as a result of traffic accident, 2 of the penetrating injuries were result of the gunshot wounds. Cardiac repair were performed in 3 cases by beating heart, in 1 patients with partial cardiopulmonary bypass, in 2 cases with total cardiopulmonary bypass. Conclusion: Until it is proven otherwise all precordial penetrating injuries should be considered cardiac injury and exploration should be done. The patients with blunt trauma and without any symptoms of cardiac injury should be closely monitored for hemodynamic stability and followed periodically with echocardiography. This will be useful for the detection of cardiac injuries to prevent overlooked diagnosis at the time of admittion to emergency service UR - https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/gutfd/article/378378 L1 - https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/download/article-file/403747 ER -
