N2  - Introduction: Cardiac arrest is the cessation of functional circulation of the blood due to failure of the heart to contract effectively and it is evidenced by the absence of a palpable pulse and unresponsiveness. The early recognition and proper management is very important. It is aimed to evaluate the patients who were considered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in emergency department (ED) of university hospital in Tokat due to raise awareness about CPR. Material and Methods: The patients who were considered CPR in ED from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2013 were included in the study. Parameters like age, sex, diagnosis, medical history, heart rhythm and final status of patients were recorded. Data was summarized with frequency, percentage and graphics. In addition, categorical data were analyzed by cross tables and chi-square test. Results: In the present study, 38,5% (n=37) of the patients were women and 61,5% (n=59) were men. The most common diagnosis was acute myocardial infarction. The rate of out of hospital cardiac arrest was 79,2% and it is found that none of them was applied CPR except 112 emergency teams. 62,5% of patients were died in ED, 27% of patients were died in early stage in intensive care units and 10,5% of patients were discharged with health. Conclusion: The key of whole neurological survival is early and proper management of CPR. This issue should accept as a public health problem and education programs should be increased.
