Study  was conducted in in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus where it is commonly accepted that the first cultivation of olive realized. Among local people, known as “Yerli” olive-type has grown widely; however mainly the Cretan olive and some other Turkish olive varieties has a partial spread on the island. In this study, natural olive populations were investigate based on thousands of years of olive culture in the region. In this context, 47 different types of pomological research were conducted in Girne, Karşıyaka, Lapta region in October 2016; oil ratio in the fresh types of samples ranged between 26.28% to 1.00% as a result. Containing oil content of genotypes were found; 4 types with above 22.00%. Investigation of the types of fruit weight ranged between 0.65 g to 3.86 g. 28 types of fruit size is smaller than 2.00 g, 19 types are between 2.00-4.00 g have been identified. These results, obtained from the study, suggest that genetic variation in the region good for olives in general. With further studies to be done in the future, it is possible to develop of new table and oil olives.
