In this study, we reviewed the files of 46 patients who were treated and hospitalized at Department of Ophtahlmology, Uludag University retrospec-tively. The initial diagnosis at the time of hospitalization, initiating factors, the culture result, choice of treatment and the response to therapy were evaluated. The number of cases who were diagnosed with corneal ulceration or abcess representing severe corneal infections was 37 ( % 80) among all the patients included in the study. The number of cases with Herpes Simplex virus keratitis was 3 (%7), with mult bacteri-al keratitis was 7 (% 15) and with fungal infection was 6 (% 13)respectively. The most frequently isolated bacteriae were Streptococcus pneumonia and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Four of the cases with bacterial keratitis were superinfected with fungi. In patients who were hospitalized for the treatment of microbial keratitis in tertiary care centers and had been treated previously, it is important to determine the etiological factors for the treatment and follow up. The prognosis is positively influenced by modifying the initial treatment according to the culture results.}, number={3}, publisher={Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi}
