The data of the study was collected from 160 mothers who were registered to four family health centers in the city center of Kars, between February 2013 and May 2013. The data of the study was collected by using the family description form and Scale for Identification of the Safety Measures Taken by Mothers to Prevent Home Accidents in Children in the 0-6 Age Group. RESULTSBefore the study; there were 16 falling (18.6%), 2 drowning (2.3%) and 4 cut wounds (4.7%) cases in the study group, and there were 10 falling (13.5%) and 2 burning (2.7%) cases in the control group. Pretest mean score of scales in the study and control groups were 176.16±11.36 and 175.49±15.02, respectively, and were not significantly different. The posttest mean score of of 185.47±7.86 in the study group was significantly higher than the value of 177.22±2.00 in the control group.CONCLUSIONEducation increases the mothers’ identification capability of safety precautions for home accidents.}, number={3}
