Malondialdehyde level in liver in all treated groups significantly increased to the control group. Exposure of rats to cadmium (3 mg/kg, IP) caused an increase in the levels of zinc in all organs and serum, and iron levels in liver and kidneys. Ingestion of ethanol (% 5-10 h/h) did not effect the zinc levels in liver or kidney, however it caused a significant increase in the iron levels in liver, kidney and heart. Furthermore, signifıcant increases were observed in serum ALP, GOT and GPT levels. There were no differences in copper levels in all organs and serum in the groups of all treated rats. According to our results, cadmium and ethanol exhibit cell damage by altering not only trace element homeostasis but also enzyme levels.
