AB  - Hücre teorisini tıbbauyarlayan ünlü hekim Rudolf Virchow arkeoloji ile de ilgilenmiştir. 1879yılında antik Troya kenti kazılarında Heinrich Schliemann’a eşlik etmiştir. Schliemann’ınIlios-The City and Country of the Trojans(Troyalıların Şehri ve Ülkesi İlios) başlıklı kitabında, Virchow önsözünyanı sıra iki de ek (Troy and Hissarlik,Medical Practice in the Troad in 1879) yazmıştır. Tıp tarihi açısından dahaönemli olan ikinci ekte, işyeri hekimi olarak çalıştığından bahsetmiştir. 2018yılının Türkiye’de Troya Yılı olarak ilan edilmesi münasebetiyle, bu makale tıptarihindeki dev bir ismin az bilinen bir yönünü hatırlatmayı amaçlamaktadır.

N2  - Rudolf Virchow, a well-known physicianwho adapted the cell theory into the medicine, was also interested inarcheology. In 1879, he accompanied Heinrich Schliemann at the excavation siteof the antique city of Troy. In the book entitled Ilios-The City and Country ofthe Trojans by Schliemann, Virchow wrote not only the preface but also two appendices,namely Troy and Hissarlik, and Medical Practice in the Troad in 1879. In thelatter that is more important with regard to medical history, he communicatedhis practice as on-site physician. On the occasion of the declaration of 2018Year of Troia in Turkey, this article aims to remind a lesser-known feature ofa giant name in the history of medicine.
